Eyewear Essentials: Sunglasses vs Blue Light Glasses

Updated: Sep 20

Whether you're hitting the beach to soak up the sun or spending hours binge-watching your favorite show in the comfort of your home, your eyes need protection from harmful UV rays and blue light exposure. Discover why having the right eyewear, whether it's sunglasses to shield your eyes outdoors, blue light glasses to reduce digital strain or a combination of both, is a game-changer for maintaining eye health and overall comfort in today's screen-dominated world.

Ultra violet rays from the sun can harm your eye detrimentally causing Pinguecula, Pterygium and eyelid cancers such as Basal Cell Carcinoma and Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Sunglasses are made to prevent Ultra Violet rays from entering your eyes but not all lenses completely block ultra violet rays from the sun.

For our Eyelet Sunplus lens, we offer UV 400 protection which prevents 99% to 100% of Ultraviolet Rays from entering your precious eyes. It is also a clip on lens for spectacles of different sizes and shapes to provide endless combinations, expanding your imagination. Unlike clip on sunglasses lens, Eyelet Sunplus lens is foldable and is easy to carry around making it more convenient for you.

Blue light exposure is less harmful compared to the ultra violet rays coming from the sun but have become crucial due to the increased duration of blue ray exposure from digital devices. From 2020 to 2023, the average screen time have increased from 4.17 hours to 4.51 hours. Too much blue light exposure can cause eye cancer and other eye related problem like Cataracts and Pinguecula.
